My Chiropractic Journey

From a young age, I experienced significant bone and joint pain caused by a very rare metabolic bone disease. As a result, I required a number of surgeries over throughout my adolescence. I was amazed by how quickly I was able to recover from these procedures once I began to receive chiropractic care as a teenager. I also found that I had more energy and no longer suffered from the chronic migraines that had affected me for most of my life. It was not surprising that I began to think about a career in spinal health, even making it the topic of my Grade 8 science fair project! However, I pursued other interests until university when, once again, chiropractic helped me through a health crisis and I knew that I wanted to be part of this incredible profession.

A Passion for Learning

Having been born and raised in Peterborough, I decided to pursue my post-secondary education at Trent University. Here I earned Honours degrees in both Ancient History and Biology before being accepted to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. During my internship year, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work at Anishnawbe Health Toronto, providing chiropractic care to the aboriginal population of downtown Toronto in a multidisciplinary setting. I also provided chiropractic treatment and rehabilitation exercises to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders and complex disabilities at the Aptus Treatment Centre. In an effort to meet the unique needs of every patient, I became certified in Webster, Activator, and Thompson Technique.

In addition to learning, I am passionate about providing education to all of my patients, from very young children to their grandparents. It is amazing how quickly people will respond to chiropractic care when they also understand the importance of being an active participant in their own health.

On a Personal Note

I have been an animal lover and avid horseback rider my entire life. My passion for animals led many amazing volunteer experiences at veterinary clinics, humane societies, and wildlife rehabilitation centres. In addition to my human patients, I equally enjoy treating their four-legged pets and am a certified animal chiropractor. I love swimming, yoga, curling up with a good book, and enjoying the outdoors with my two dogs (who also receive regular chiropractic adjustments!)
